Book A Tutor

Book-A-Tutor is an appointment-based service providing in-person subject tutoring for all currently enrolled ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏundergraduate students. This service allows students to schedule personalized, one-on-one sessions with trained ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏpeer tutors in various STEM subjects. Students may book up to three 50-minute tutoring appointments per week.

How to book an appointment

Students can schedule an Book-A-Tutor appointment using one of the following methods:

  • By Phone: Call the Academic Success Center at 813-974-2713.
  • In-Person: Visit the ASC at LIB 206.
  • Online: Book an appointment through

eXPECTATIONS FOR Book-a-tutor appointment

To ensure a productive tutoring session, please read and follow the expectations below.

Before the session, students should:

  • Review and sign the initial visit survey for the first time using the ASC service.
  • Come prepared with topics and questions for discussion.Bring necessary course materials such as textbooks, notes, laptops, and calculators.
  • Review their textbook and notes prior to the tutoring session, as this initial review helps narrow down specific areas for discussion with the tutor.
  • Understand that tutors assist with understanding concepts and their applications, not with graded assignments (e.g., quizzes and exams).

During the session, students should:

  • Stay focused and actively engage with the tutor.
  • Avoid disruptive behavior, as the ASC is an active collaborative learning space.
  • Recognize that tutoring is a supplement to classroom learning, not a substitute for attending class.

After the session, students are encouraged to:

  • Complete the Student Feedback Survey to help us enhance our services.
  • Consult the Academic Assistant team to learn about ASC in-person and online tutoring hours for additional support.
  • Review the concepts and questions covered during the session to reinforce their understanding.
