Awareness Months
On this page we will highlight national awareness months related to mental health and substance use/misuse.
February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month
Dating violence is a widespread issue that is often overlooked, especially among teenagers and young adults. Alarming statistics show that one in three U.S. teenagers will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from a partner before adulthood. Additionally, 43% of college women in the United States report encountering violent or abusive dating behaviors.
To combat this issue, young adults and their supporters come together each February for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM). This month-long campaign is dedicated to raising awareness, educating communities, and promoting prevention efforts to stop dating abuse before it starts.
