Three ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ students — Siegrid Pregartner, Mitchell Harrah, and Frank Nunez — won first and second place and Judge's Choice awards in the ninth annual Florida Blue Health Innovation Challenge. Florida Blue Health Care, one of the largest health care providers in Florida, awarded a total of $23,500 to Florida college students at the April 29 competition.

Laura Azevedo is a PhD student at the College of Marine Science. She studies rogue waves in Tampa Bay, which are large, unpredictable and dangerous. Gov. Ron DeSantis pledged millions of dollars in state money Wednesday to combat red tide across the state. Nearly $5 million will go to the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute at the ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ St. Petersburg campus. And $3 million will go to researching red tide mitigation technology at Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota.
