Թϱnames new Florida College Access Network executive director
The Թϱ announced today the appointment of Charleita Richardson as executive director of the Florida College Access Network. An independent, statewide network, FCAN represents a cross-section of more than 700 organizations and institutions devoted to improving college access and success for minorities and other students underrepresented in higher education.

Traditional mosquito abatement programs, which generally call for the spraying of insecticides across widespread areas via helicopters, can be expensive and imprecise. Manatee County, looking for a more effective and less-costly strategy to combat flood water or “nuisance” mosquitos, turned to experts at the ԹϱCollege of Public Health who’ve researched and used drone technology in combatting malaria-carrying mosquitos in parts of Africa and Asia.

For the past month, demonstrators around the world have protested police brutality following the killings of black Americans such as George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Tony McDade. Chants of “Black lives matter” and “No justice, no peace” have filled the streets around Tampa Bay. Fed up with what they see as a criminal justice system rife with racial injustice, many current protesters are calling for police reform, and others for more drastic measures.
