ST. PETERSBURG, FL 鈥� Mark Luther, Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Maritime and Port Studies in the College of Marine Science, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the International SeaKeepers Society. Professor Luther has chaired the Science Advisory Council for Seakeepers since 2010 and now serves as science adviser to the board. The is an organization of yacht owners that supports marine science and conservation by utilizing yachts as platforms for marine research, educational outreach, and to deploy oceanographic instruments. Seakeepers鈥� efforts eliminate vessel costs and permit scientists to allocate those funds to maximize research potential.
