College of Education alum receives AECT award for immersive virtual foreign language learning research
Saidah's research focused on using 3D virtual worlds in foreign language education, designing and developing a series of English lessons in these immersive spaces to overcome the persistent challenges of English language learning and improve language learning practices using engaging and intuitive learning approaches.

This initiative, which began in 2021 when Patriann Smith, a then assistant professor in Literacy Studies at the ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏCollege of Education, along with international partners, secured a $3.6 million grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), culminated in a RISE Caribbean Conference held at the ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏPatel Center for Global Solutions in 2023.

The RISE Caribbean Educational Research Conference was co-hosted last week from May 30 – June 1, by the ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ and the University of the West Indies Cave Hill at the ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏCollege of Education Tampa campus and the Patel Center for Global Solutions.
