MURP students place third in national competition to improve a Philadelphia neighborhood

ԹϱCollege of Arts and Sciences Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) program students Beneetta Mary Jose, Abdul Samad Agha, Varshini Renikunta, and Aditi Sugeerappa Hoti earned third place for their design in the American Planning Association National Planning Competition in April.

A global classroom experience that brought together ԹϱSt. Petersburg students with peers in Moldova to conduct joint research while an international humanitarian crisis was unfolding nearby received the inaugural International Partnerships Award from the American Political Science Association (APSA) and the Political Studies Association (PSA).

ԹϱSt. Petersburg Psychology Professor Tiffany Chenneville has been awarded the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Springfield Policy Congressional Fellowship, which will allow her to work with a member of Congress on policies to advance the health and well-being of LGBTQIA+ populations.

CAS faculty cited in President Biden’s economic report

Research from ԹϱCollege of Arts and Sciences faculty was cited in the 2023 Economic Report of the President. The report, released in March, includes a reflection by President Joseph Biden regarding the administration’s economic accomplishments, opportunities and challenges ahead.

19 new students welcomed into Dean’s Student Leadership Society

The ԹϱCollege of Arts and Sciences (CAS) welcomed 19 new members to the Dean’s Student Leadership Society (DSLS). DSLS students are chosen for their superior leadership skills, often serving as volunteer coordinators, executive board members, or critical points of contact on behalf of CAS. DSLS also provides students with mentorship opportunities, professional development workshops, and year-round networking.

A new true crime docuseries, “The Lesson Is Murder,” follows Թϱ criminology Associate Professor Bryanna Fox and her five graduate students as they show the reality of how researchers analyze convicted murderers’ personality traits and motives to develop psychological profiles. Dr. Fox is cofounder of the ԹϱCollege of Arts and Sciences Center for Justice Research and Policy.

As the cost of food rises, Թϱresearchers remain focused on households struggling with food insecurity. The two-year program aims to educate communities on the food growing ecosystem and healthy eating.
